In the short novel, Ginger, the protagonist, Gene, has many problems to deal with which include a relationship with his girlfriend Anna, a job he cares nothing about, and living up to the respect and knowledge of his elder neighbor, Abe. But when Gene purchases a doll out of curiosity, no problem will ever measure up to what Ginger will bring into his life.
