In a world where decorum, duty, privacy, and family ties were of the utmost importance, it was sometimes made difficult for the innocence and timidity of a young woman such as Valencia Dupree to carry a strong voice. In an age where strength and position were thought to be safer in the hands of men, Valencia found a way from within her own self to be counted among the bearers of truth and justice. Although she could not grasp the entirety of it in life, she discovered a way to make her voice heard even in death. In life Valencia found only confusion, pain, and sorrow.
