Jude the Obscure

Thomas Hardy puts together another well-crafted human tragedy in Jude the Obscure. The protagonist Jude Fawley is forced into abandoning his education to enter an unhappy marriage. His travails do not end there, as Jude ends up working as a stonemason and falling deeply in love with his cousin.
