Elizabeth Bishop's Prosaic

This book approaches, for the first time, Bishop’s work in multiple genres (her prose-like verse, her literary prose, her prose poems, and her letter prose) as a stylistic whole. Tapping into recent work on literature as a form of cognition, it also reinvigorates the long-neglected study of prose itself—a literary form whose history and structure has never received the scholarly attention it deserves.
